  • The FSPL is rooted in radical politics and community liberation. Rather than offering general-interest books, we curate materials on anarchism, abolition, mutual aid, and revolutionary movements past and present. FSPL is free, autonomous, and community powered, showing up in public spaces to share knowledge and build collective power.

  • Patrons can check out and return books in person at the truck at any of our mobile locations. Find us here. Beginning November 2025, you are also welcome to return books any time at our office space at 1810 SE 10th Avenue, Unit A. Look for the book return on the door slot of the roll-up door. You can check books out from this location by appointment, email freesocietylibrary [at] gmail [dot] com to arrange a time.

  • No, the FSPL is an independently funded lending library, and operates outside of state structures to offer truly free access to knowledge without surveillance, censorship, fees, or bureaucratic barriers.

  • We are always happy to consider recommendations from our patrons. Please email purchase suggestions to freesocietylibrary@gmail.com

  • If you are interested in supporting the FSPL with your time, please email freesocietylibrary@gmail.com to share your interest and availability. While we do not have regular volunteer shifts yet, we often organize community work days to process and maintain books and the truck.

  • Yes! We accept monetary donations through our Venmo @FreeSocietyLibrary and book donations in person. If you have a large number of books to donate, or if you’re not sure if we have a book already, please reach out in person or over email.
